Help:Article review

From PAI

Article review is a community process for improving accuracy, sourcing, clarity and scope before an unfinished user draft is moved to the main encyclopedia.

Current technical status: This process is advisory. The current wiki's registered-user group has rights to create and move pages, so a review request does not technically prevent direct publication. The workflow below provides visible draft categories and discussion requests, not a formal approval extension.

Submit a draft

  1. Finish a draft under User:YourUsername/Drafts/Article title using the article wizard.
  2. Check the article against the quality checklist.
  3. At the top, change the banner to {{PAI Draft status|status=submitted}}. Save your draft. It will appear in the review category.
  4. Open the review-request page and start a new discussion with a link to your draft, the proposed main-namespace title and any questions for reviewers.
  5. Watch the discussion and your draft page for replies. Follow the source-based feedback.

Changing a status banner does not automatically alert a reviewer. Create a review request as well.

Reviewer checklist

  • Scope: Does the subject belong in this encyclopedia, and is it distinct from existing articles?
  • Sources: Are important assertions supported by real sources with appropriate authority and independence?
  • Accuracy: Do the sources support dates, names, numbers, editions and technical descriptions?
  • Neutrality: Is promotional or speculative phrasing replaced with source-based explanation?
  • Original writing: Are copyright, attribution and image licenses respected?
  • Completeness: Are the lead, essential sections, limitations and references sufficient?
  • Technical presentation: Are headings, wiki links, infoboxes, citations and references correctly rendered?

Outcomes

  • Draft: Work is in progress; not yet submitted for review.
  • Submitted: The author requests review; the banner adds a category, not an automatic notification.
  • Needs work: A reviewer or author records changes to make; discuss the specifics on the review-request thread.
  • Reviewed: A reviewer has recorded feedback or recommended publication; this is not a system permission or automated approval.

The author may change {{PAI Draft status|status=needs-work}} while making corrections, and then resubmit after addressing the concerns.

Moving a draft to the main namespace

Use the Move command if the main title is available and the contributor has permission. Do not copy and paste an entire page into a new main-namespace article if moving is possible, because moving normally preserves page history. Remove the PAI Draft status banner, unfinished placeholders and draft-only instructions, add appropriate categories and verify the final result.

If there is a naming conflict, an existing article, copyright dispute or protection issue, raise it at PAI:Help desk rather than overwriting a page.
