Robot Safety Case a structured argument supported by evidence that an identified robotic application meets defined safety objectives. [1]
Purpose
A safety case organizes claims about a system, the assumptions under which they hold and evidence from design, analysis and testing. It is specific to a configuration and operating environment.
Evidence
Evidence may include hazard analyses, design reviews, verification records, tests, inspection results and operational procedures. The strength of the argument depends on whether the evidence actually addresses the identified hazards. [2]
Change management
Hardware replacement, a new end-effector or an AI model update can invalidate previously assessed assumptions. A safety case should track configuration and require reassessment after relevant changes. [3]
Boundaries
A written argument is not an independent product approval or legal compliance certificate. Applicable requirements, third-party assessment and professional judgment still matter.
