Technology standards are specifications, vocabularies, processes or requirements published by standards-development organizations or other bodies. They can support interoperability, testing, safety and common terminology, but their legal force depends on the relevant jurisdiction or contract. [1]

Robotics

ISO 10218-1:2025 specifies safety requirements for industrial robots. Other standards address robot systems, service robots or particular operational environments; one standard should not be assumed to cover every type of robot. [2]

Digital identity

W3C standards include the DID Core Recommendation and the Verifiable Credentials Data Model. These describe technologies and data models, not blanket proof that a robotic deployment is secure, legally compliant or safe. [3]

Assessing a standard

An encyclopedia entry should identify the edition, scope, date, publisher and normative status. Drafts, informative guidance and mandatory requirements should not be presented as interchangeable. [4]
