Robot Fleet Identity identity architecture used to distinguish and authenticate robots and their software components within a managed fleet. [1]
Entities and identifiers
A fleet can contain entire robots, embedded controllers, gateways, workloads and management services. An asset number identifies equipment but is not sufficient proof that messages originated from the legitimate device.
Credential binding
Cryptographic credentials can bind keys to device or workload identities. Provisioning workflows should record ownership, permitted roles, credential expiration and what happens after replacement or repair. [2]
Operational lifecycle
Key activities include enrollment, rotation, revocation, secure decommissioning and auditing. A security architecture should also address recovery when a device is offline or its credentials are compromised.
Limits
Authentication supports accountable communications but cannot establish that navigation, actuation or human interaction is physically safe. The architecture must be evaluated alongside network and robotics safety controls.
