Human-Robot Collaboration working arrangements in which humans and robots interact or perform related tasks in an operational environment. [1]
Meaning
Collaboration can include shared workspaces, supervised tasks and coordinated handoffs. The degree of physical proximity does not alone determine whether an application qualifies for a particular safety method.
Risk assessment
Industrial collaborative applications require careful assessment of contact hazards, tooling, workpieces, operating conditions and foreseeable human behavior. Sensor capability and robot branding are insufficient substitutes. [2]
Safety measures
Depending on the specific application, protective approaches can involve separation monitoring, protective stops, speed restrictions and limits on force or power. Applicable requirements must be interpreted by qualified personnel.
Human factors
Usability, clear status signals, recovery after faults and worker training influence actual safety. Collaboration is a system-level property, not an inherent guarantee from a robot model.
