Help:PAI Article System

From PAI

This page explains the templates and tools that make up the Physical AI Identity article system. For writing rules, see PAI:Manual of style and PAI:Reliable sources.

Short description

sets a one-line summary used by search engines and the mobile site. Put it on the first line, in plain text with no links, ideally under 100 characters.

Infoboxes

Technology infobox

Use PAI Infobox technology at the top of technology articles. All fields are optional and empty fields are hidden.

Parameter Shows
name Heading (defaults to the page name)
description One-line summary under the heading
image, alt, caption Picture (file name without File:), alt text, caption
aliases, type, field Also known as, category, area

components, applications, related Core components, uses, related concepts

url, url_label Official website as a link

Articles in the main namespace are added to Category:Physical AI technologies automatically. Articles without description are tracked in Category:PAI technology articles missing description.

General infobox

PAI Infobox is the base template. It takes title, subtitle, image, alt, caption, and up to ten label1/value1 pairs. Most editors use the technology infobox instead.

Citations

Use PAI Cite web directly after the claim. It creates the footnote itself; never wrap it in <ref> tags.

The standard was revised in 2021.
Parameter Meaning
title Required. Title of the page or document
url Web address
author, website, publisher Who wrote or published it
date, access-date Publication date; date you viewed it (YYYY-MM-DD)
language Language, if not English
archive-url, archive-date Archived copy if the link breaks
name, group Footnote name (to reuse it) and group

Reusing a citation: give it a name the first time, then repeat it with a normal reference tag:

... later in the article ...

Showing the references: end the article with

References
PAI Reflist

Notices and notes

Boxes that match the site style. Put the wording in the box.

<div class="pai-note">A general informational note.</div>

<div class="pai-notice pai-notice-warning"><span class="pai-notice-title">Needs more sources</span>This article needs additional citations.</div>

Result:

A general informational note.
Needs more sourcesThis article needs additional citations.

Notice colors: add one of pai-notice-info, pai-notice-success, pai-notice-warning, or pai-notice-error next to pai-notice.

Hatnote (for a short pointer at the very top of an article):

<div class="pai-hatnote">For the company, see Example Company.</div>

Add PAI Physical AI navbox at the bottom of articles in this topic area, before the categories.

Categories

Put categories at the very bottom of the article, one per line.

Use the most specific category that applies. To link to a category without adding the page to it, use a leading colon: :Category:Physical AI.

Images

Upload a file with Special:Upload (autoconfirmed users). Then:

Only upload files you created or that have a free licence, and give the source and licence on the file page. In an infobox, use the image parameter with just the file name.

Editing tips

 • Use Preview before you save, and add a short edit summary.
 • Use PAGENAME and only as described here; other magic words may not work.
 • In VisualEditor, use Insert → Template to fill in infoboxes and citations through a form.
 • Internal links: Page name or shown text.

Checklist before saving

 1. The first sentence defines the topic and the title is in bold.
 2. Every important claim has a citation from a reliable source.
 3. A short description and an infobox are present, where one applies.
 4. Headings are in sentence case; sections have enough content.
 5. Links point to the right articles; no important red-link typos.
 6. At least one category is added, and the references are shown with PAI Reflist.
