Related conceptsArtificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Physical AI Infrastructure

Computer science studies computation, algorithms, data structures, programming languages, computer systems and their theoretical foundations. In physical AI, software and computation link perception, decision-making, secure communication and machine control. [1]

Software and computation

An AI-enabled robot may use operating systems, embedded programs, networking stacks, databases and learning algorithms. Different functions have different requirements for response times, fault tolerance and resource use. [2]

Connections to robotics

Computer science contributes planning methods, computer vision, distributed computing and security engineering. Robotics also relies on mechanical design, electronics, control theory and measurements from physical sensors. [3]

Engineering trade-offs

Computational output can be delayed, interrupted or incorrect. Developers of connected physical machines must assess system integration, update mechanisms, access privileges and behavior during partial failures. [4]
