Physical AI applications use computation and artificial intelligence alongside sensing or actuation to support tasks in physical environments. Applications differ substantially in maturity, safety requirements and the amount of human supervision needed. [1]

Industrial settings

AI-enabled perception may assist inspection, sorting, material handling and maintenance. Systems operating in production environments are often subject to strict uptime and worker safety requirements. [2]

Mobility and services

Mobile robots can support logistics, mapping, remote inspection and transport. Autonomous vehicle development illustrates why perception and planning must be assessed together with safety engineering and clearly defined operating conditions. [3]

Evaluation

Applications should be described by the task, environment, tested performance, failure modes and operator responsibilities. Demonstrations of one use case should not be generalized to unrelated workplaces or situations. [4]
